Meet Melisa

Founder & Co-Owner Melisa Nielsen, LLC, Waldorf Essentials and Seasons of Seven ~ Director of Pedagogy, Lead Coach

Who am I? Well... let's see if I can condense it. I am a mom in my 40s with five children. My big kids are now adults and I have two left at home. I've been studying Steiner and Waldorf education deeply for nearly 20 years. I've been a wife, an ex-wife and a wife again. I am a stroke survivor. Two out of five children have spectrum struggles. My oldest has ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and my youngest has SPD (sensory processing disorder.) There is NEVER a dull moment in the Nielsen house.

About 14 years ago I took my study of Steiner and put it to work with other families in our series of curriculum "A Journey through Waldorf Homeschooling" and our business has grown from there.

I love my life. I love to watercolor paint, knit and embroider. I might kick your butt at a game of Uno or Candyland - you pick - and I really enjoy a quiet afternoon with my family.

We live in Arizona.

Meet Erik

Co-Founder & Co-Owner Waldorf Essentials & Seasons of Seven, Editor, Director of Digital Media

I've worn many hats in my life but these days I probably wear more than ever. They can be stacked so high I need to duck when I enter rooms, and I'm only 5'6. Right now, I'm a husband, father, entrepreneur, videographer and content creator, editor, teacher, San Diegian and OBecian (a term used to refer to residents of Ocean Beach in San Diego.) Over the years I've been a journalist and filmmaker. Melisa and I decided to take a leap of faith years ago when I quit my newspaper job to pursue building Waldorf Essentials. Its a decision we've never regretted. We are constantly bolstered by the kind words of clients whom we have helped over the years.

Meet Nicole

Director of Operations/Integrator at Melisa Nielsen, LLC, Waldorf Essentials and a Director at Seasons of Seven ~ Waldorf Essentials Coach

 Hi! I am Nicole.

I am married to Mr. Incredible and a mother of three beautiful children. We live in the Colorado. Our kiddos keep us on our toes. Our oldest son is our warrior who bravely fights the battles life throws at him, from learning challenges to illnesses.  He has the most amazing imagination and smile. Our daughter is our “spirited” middle child. She is very passionate and loves everything with all her heart.  Our youngest son wears his emotions on his sleeves. He has the most beautiful, joyful spirit about him that blesses our lives every day.

After several difficult years in the public-school system we learned about Waldorf Education. I fell in love with it right away and knew it was exactly what our family needed. It wasn’t just about a child centered education, but also how it would help us grow as a family. We started with Waldorf Essentials in 2016, in 2017 I became a local TFW leader and now I am also Melisa and Erik’s assistant. I love sharing what I have learned and enjoy helping others along their journey. Waldorf Essentials is a huge blessing in our life and our family is continually growing closer from the things we are learning. I look forward to getting to know everyone better and supporting you along your Waldorf journey.

Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with family and friends, hiking, singing in our church choir and reading a good book!

Meet Melanie

Seasons of Seven Director of Admissions ~ Waldorf Essentials Coach

 Hi! I am Melanie.

I am a single mom homeschooling my sweet son in Florida.  I love homeschooling with Waldorf education and the deep, rich, satisfying bond it has created with my son. I have a degree in Education, and has been homeschooling & mentoring homeschooling families for several years. When I am not working, I am spending time hanging out with my son by the pool or at the beach.
